FOUNDER’S MESSAGE

I am delighted to welcome you to the website of the Edet Amana Foundation which carries a synopsis of the direct interventions and collaborations we embarked upon over the years before the formal inauguration of the Foundation last year. It also states our imminent areas of cynosure and amelioration for society. I give Almighty God thanks and praise for the opportunity He has provided for me to be of service to humanity in this way.
Education is the fulcrum of what we do and will continue to do. I believe that the greatest investment one can make is in the development of human beings and communities through education. I have a passion for education, the endowment of a chair in Early Childhood in the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and endowment of a law library in the University of Calabar, Cross River State. Assistance and support to Student Unions and related associations.
Additionally, I have trained some youth in relevant skills in collaboration with our partners, providing an enabling environment suffused with appropriate moral and spiritual values in such a way that beneficiaries are inspired to make a difference in their communities. With the formal inauguration of the Edet Amana Foundation, I believe the stage is set for converting our vast untapped potentials into actualities that will benefit and empower our people.
I invite all likeminded individuals or groups to collaborate with us towards the achievement of the objectives of this Foundation. Together, we can overcome poverty and raise the living standard of our people and communities, freeing our people from the ravages of ignorance, superstition, want, fear, disease and death thereby releasing their creative energies into productive endeavours that make for peace and progress of our society.
I envision a nation with a vibrant economy based on self sufficiency in such critical areas as food, shelter, health, good education and sustainable environment. Giving inspiration to our youths, especially with the vision that they are indeed the leaders of today and tomorrow by equipping them with the knowledge and skills for a meaningful existence in an enriched community.
I derive immense personal satisfaction from these activities as they represent the fulfilment of God’s purpose for my life and my modest effort to give back a little of what had been invested in me at different stages of my life by my community, state and nation. My social horizons have been broadened to embrace the whole nation and the world by my involvement in these activities.
The Edet Amana Foundation is devoted to restoring, promoting and sustaining human dignity, because we all share a common humanity.
Sir. Edet James Amana, KJW, OON
